Gwadar Port Inspires Youth and Women to Join Pakistan’s Growing Maritime and Blue Economy Sectors

A special awareness event was organized at Gwadar Port as part of National Maritime Week 2025 by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, aiming to engage youth and promote Pakistan’s emerging blue economy.

Students and teachers from Government Girls Degree College Gwadar actively participated in the event, which was held under the supervision of Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch and in line with the directives of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Gwadar Pro reported on Monday.

According to an official statement, the initiative sought to inspire young minds—especially female students—to explore educational and career opportunities in Pakistan’s growing maritime and shipping sectors.

Addressing the participants, Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch emphasized the pivotal role of Gwadar Port in Pakistan’s economic transformation and regional connectivity. He encouraged students to explore career prospects in maritime logistics, port management, and ocean economy ventures.

“The maritime sector offers immense opportunities for Pakistan’s youth, particularly women, to take part in building a sustainable and prosperous blue economy,” said Baloch.

Participants were given an exclusive guided tour of key facilities, including Gwadar Port’s operational terminals, the China Business Center (CBC), Gwadar Free Zone, and the Desalination Plant. Students observed port operations and ongoing commercial activities, gaining first-hand insights into Pakistan’s maritime development under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.

The event, part of the nationwide Maritime Week 2025 campaign, aimed to enhance awareness about Pakistan’s maritime potential, promote gender inclusion in the blue economy, and strengthen youth engagement in sectors such as shipping, marine sciences, trade logistics, and coastal management.

With Gwadar Port emerging as a strategic hub for trade and connectivity, officials reaffirmed that empowering youth and women through maritime education and exposure is key to realizing Pakistan’s vision for a sustainable blue economy and global maritime integration.
